One of my most prized possessions is a box of old photographs of my parents. When shuffling through these images, what always stands out to me are not the images themselves, but the delicate notes on the back by the photographer. I love to incorporate these moments of layered messaging that help piece together the larger story.
By layering the backs of each image on top of one another I created a backdrop for the poster around the theme of memory. The distorted type featured reads, “Hartsfield”, my maternal grandmother’s maiden name, and a middle name my father and I share. Through experimenting with type and image, I designed a poster that reflected my personal brand as well as a personal history.

Cadillac Wheels
The invention of the polyurethane skateboard wheel by Frank Nasworthy (my uncle) in 1972 made it possible for skateboarding to have its long-awaited comeback. He founded the company, Cadillac Wheels, to promote this new innovative technology
and to give skateboarding the boost it needed. Skateboarders, once restrained by the surfaces they rode, were now in control. I designed this poster as an homage to this pivotal moment in skateboarding history.
